The state House of Representatives was set to vote Wednesday on a bill to bring state garnishment law into compliance with a federal district court’s ruling.

Senate Bill 255 passed through the Senate on Feb. 9 but stalled in the House Judiciary Committee over how quickly financial institutions must set aside funds from garnished accounts. The Senate version gives banks 24 hours to act, while the House version grants five days.
