A ruling by the Georgia Supreme Court could help a private probation company win a dismissal of a federal lawsuit claiming false imprisonment and malicious prosecution.

The decision arrived with four others Friday, the deadline for cases that have been pending for two of the court’s three terms each year. The other decisions included one ending a lawsuit filed against the state for cutting benefits to disabled adults. Another upheld by a 4-3 vote a murder conviction, and another clarified correct procedure for appeals involving government immunity.
