A former vice president of construction company Heery International says that, when she was terminated in 2013, the company’s chief financial officer told her, “It’s slash-and-burn time, baby, and your job has been eliminated.”

Martha Abbott Pacini, Heery’s former vice president and director of corporate communications, on April 28 sued Heery in federal court in Atlanta, claiming that her termination from the company, where she had worked for 29 years, stemmed from age and gender discrimination that was sanctioned by senior management.
