When Marcus Tavon Brown was shot in DeKalb County on Oct. 2, 2012, he told DeKalb police the name of the man who had shot him.
The name that Brown gave police before he lost consciousness was not Darrick McDuffie, according to a county police report. Two days later, police obtained an arrest warrant for McDuffie, claiming that, while Brown was hospitalized with a gunshot wound to the head, in a subsequent interview he had named McDuffie as the shooter.
