In a federal lawsuit filed Tuesday, a Roswell videographer arrested while recording a political rally two years ago says that law enforcement officers who ejected her from the rally and then jailed her “used excessive force, unconstitutional arrest and, ultimately, bogus criminal charges to silence a citizen journalist.”

The suit was filed by Nydia Tisdale, who since 2011 has recorded public meetings across North Georgia and circulated the recordings, dubbed “Nydeos,” without commentary on social media and her website. Her suit seeks “to vindicate Tisdale’s rights to free speech and freedom of the press, as well as her rights to be free from unreasonable searches and seizures and the use of excessive force” by law enforcement authorities.
