Bankruptcy lawyer Mark Kaufman has joined King & Spalding as a partner from Dentons.
Kaufman advises financially-distressed municipalities, as well as other government entities and bondholders. In one high-profile matter, he was lead counsel to the state-appointed receiver for the city of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, which faced bankruptcy after failing to make debt payments on a new incinerator. Kaufman crafted a plan to restructure about $400 million of debt for the state capital in 2013. The Global M&A Network recognized him as its Mid-Market Restructuring Lawyer of the Year.
