A judicial race that started with accusations of retaliation remains contentious a few days before the May 24 election.

Cobb County Superior Court Chief Judge J. Stephen Schuster has backed away from his earlier allegation that the two challengers for his seat were trying to punish him for his role in a criminal investigation in Juvenile Court, where one of the challengers is a judge. But one of those opponents is not shy in her criticism of the incumbent, going so far as to request documents that she said she suspects will show he is absent from court often.
