Doug Towns says that it was an “outside-the-box idea” that landed him his new job as vice president and general counsel at Guardian Pharmacy LLC, an Atlanta-based long-term pharmacy company.

Earlier this year, when Towns was a partner at Sherman & Howard, he proposed to Guardian’s executives that they hire him as the company’s first general counsel. Towns had represented Guardian Pharmacy and its executive team for nearly 20 years, so he felt he had “earned their trust and respect” enough to make the pitch, he says.
