On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I wish to extend condolences to the family, colleagues and many friends of longtime Macon lawyer and public servant J. Michael “Mike” Cranford on his recent and untimely passing.
As a solo practitioner for three decades, Mr. Cranford earned a stellar reputation as a criminal defense lawyer and became a leader among his peers across the state. He was immediate past chairperson of the Indigent Defense Committee of the State Bar of Georgia and previously chaired the State Bar’s Criminal Defense Section. He was also a past president of the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and a 2013 recipient of the Justice Robert Benham Award for Community Service, presented by the State Bar of Georgia and the Chief Justice’s Commission on Professionalism.
