Austin Gates was marching in a civil protest through downtown Atlanta when he was grabbed from behind by a police officer in riot gear and hustled into a nearby patrol car.

Gates was arrested while protesting the Ferguson, Missouri, grand jury’s decision not to indict a white police officer who shot and killed an unarmed black teenager in August 2014. Gates was wearing a mask at the time.
