A Cobb County jury awarded $20 million to a couple after the man was left with permanent brain damage when his car was hit by a tractor-trailer that ran a red light.

Michael Goldberg of Fried Rogers Goldberg said he and firm partner Joe Fried had worried that the jury might not react positively to their clients, Muslim immigrants from Pakistan. “But the verdict is really a strong testament to the fairness of the jury system that, even in a conservative venue like Cobb County, people can get a fair shake at trial, regardless of where they come from,” said Goldberg.
