If the local Association of Corporate Counsel chapter holds its annual continuing legal education event at an Atlanta Braves game again next year, attendees will experience “a cozier, more intimate baseball field.” That’s according to Greg Heller, the team’s executive vice president and chief legal officer, who spoke to 100 or so in-house lawyers gathered at the 755 Club for the popular event Tuesday afternoon.
It wasn’t all fun and games, though. Heller’s remarks about the status of the team’s new 41,500-seat SunTrust Park and The Battery Atlanta, the $1 billion mixed-use development surrounding the Cobb County stadium, were succeeded by a panel discussion titled “Digital Business and the Internet of Things.” The idea was to educate in-house attorneys about the connected sensors embedded in everyday objects for the purpose of collecting and sharing data via the internet and some of the legal issues surrounding companies’ compilation of such vast data.
