Financial services litigator Cindy Hanson has joined Troutman Sanders as a partner from Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton.

Hanson said her focus is defending class actions alleging violations of the Fair Credit Reporting Act for consumer reporting agencies, criminal background check companies and employers that use background checks. As an example, she said, people might sue a background check company, alleging that there was a mistake in its report that caused them to either lose a job or experience delays in obtaining it.
