The Georgia Supreme Court announced Wednesday it has unanimously elected Presiding Justice P. Harris Hines as its next chief justice.
Hines will succeed Chief Justice Hugh Thompson, who plans to retire in January. Thompson said he timed his retirement in part to give Hines more time to serve as chief before he retires in 2018.
