The full Superior Court bench in Chatham County on Thursday issued what they suggested is an unprecedented order suspending the chief judge of the county Recorder’s Court from administrative duties in the wake of reports that feuding on the lower court has compromised its ability to function.
Signed by the judicial circuit’s six Superior Court judges, including Chief Judge Michael Karpf, the writ suspends the authority of Chatham County Recorder’s Court Chief Judge Tammy Stokes to direct court personnel and assigns that supervisory responsibility to the Superior Court clerk.
