Georgia’s Judicial Nominating Commission plans to hear from applicants for three openings on the state’s supreme court next week, along with concerned bar associations and special interest groups.

“It’s such a ground-shaking moment,” said J. Randolph Evans, Dentons partner and co-chair of the commission. With three openings on the high court (one caused by the retirement of Chief Justice Hugh Thompson and two created by new positions), the effect of Gov. Nathan Deal’s impending choices will be “enormous,” Evans said.
