Atlanta is a busy regional hub for insurance defense work, with a plethora of national and regional insurance carriers—but it’s also a highly competitive market with dozens of firms vying for that business, ranging from 100-lawyer shops to boutiques and solos. While many are long-established with deep roots, new entrants are seeing fresh opportunities.
Two big defense firms, Litchfield Cavo and McAngus Goudelock & Courie, have just opened Atlanta beachheads in hopes of capturing some of that work, while several Atlanta-based firms are venturing outside of Georgia—most recently, Cruser, Mitchell, Novitz, Sanchez, Gaston & Zimet and Hall Booth Smith. Cruser Mitchell has just opened a California office—its sixth outside Atlanta—and last month Hall Booth added its 12th office, in Birmingham.
