The American Civil Liberties Union has sued the governor of Georgia for refusing to extend the voter registration deadline in response to the disruption caused by Hurricane Matthew.
The ACLU filed the lawsuit Monday in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Georgia against Gov. Nathan Deal and Secretary of State Brian Kemp, alleging violations of the U.S. Constitution, Voting Rights Act and National Voter Registration Act.
