I read, with extreme disappointment, the article about House Speaker [David] Ralston (“House Speaker Could Receive Reprimand to Resolve Bar Complaint,” Nov. 2). I have no personal beef with him. I have, in fact, never met him. However, I consider how his case has been handled an embarrassment to the profession.

According to the article in yesterday’s paper, he broke two rules of professionalism. The first was essentially lending money to his clients. I can feel some sympathy for someone who wants to help their clients so desperately. I can see how, in certain circumstances, it might be appropriate to employ some leniency to an attorney who breaks this rule.
