Proponents of diversity in the judiciary expressed dismay Wednesday after Gov. Nathan Deal appointed five new appellate court judges—four of them men and all of them white.
“This was clearly a missed opportunity by the governor to diversity both courts,” said Suzanne Ockleberry, an AT&T corporate counsel and co-convenor of Advocacy for Action, an organization that promotes diversity in the judiciary by recruiting candidates for appointments and election.
