The two new justices Gov. Nathan Deal swore in at the State Capitol Wednesday to expand the Georgia Supreme Court had already set off a flurry of activity across the street at the Justice Building. As Georgia Court of Appeals Judge Nels Peterson and Solicitor General Britt Grant took their oaths to become justices, the Supreme Court was finishing up a bit of a construction project.

“We didn’t get a new bench,” said Chief Justice Hugh Thompson during a visit in his chambers Thursday. “We made our bench bigger.”
