The new chairman of the state Judicial Qualifications Commission said he is urging a respected former chairman of the agency to become its new director.

Athens attorney Edward Tolley, whom Gov. Nathan Deal appointed as the newly constituted agency’s chairman, told the Daily Report that the JQC has been in “conversations” with King & Spalding partner Benjamin Easterlin to become its executive director after he retires from King & Spalding on Feb. 1.
