The Fulton County Commission has approved more than $6 million in spending for the county’s Justice Reinvestment Initiative, a multi-pronged program aimed at reducing the population at the Fulton County Jail, improving behavioral health care for inmates, and moving cases more quickly through the courts.
The spending comes from a pool of more than $7.4 million set aside for the initiative. Commission Chairman John Eaves, who has spearheaded the push for the program, said in a press release that the spending will help ensure “justice for victims as well as defendants.”
