A trial lawyer has made an early announcement of plans to run for what he says will be an open seat on the Georgia Court of Appeals in 2018.

“Next year, after practicing law in the trenches 40 years and serving as president of the State Bar of Georgia, I will be a candidate in a statewide nonpartisan election for an open seat on the Court of Appeals of Georgia,” Kenneth Shigley of the Shigley firm said on his Facebook page Tuesday. “There will be no incumbent judge in the race.”
