Although Tuesday’s report from a U.S. Supreme Court special master doesn’t conclude the epic litigation conflict known as the “water wars,” it delivers a decisive victory to an army of lawyers who have labored long for Georgia on that battlefield.
Three water wars veterans now sit on the Georgia Supreme Court: Justices Harold Melton, Nels Peterson and Britt Grant. They earned their medals in a conflict that spans the service of three governors and three attorneys general. The fight has engaged some of the sharpest minds at top firms since the dawn of the millennium.
