A Douglas County jury issued a post-apportionment award of $10.9 million in the case of a man who suffered permanent brain damage and a broken neck when his pickup was hit by a van that ran a stop sign in 2009.

The jury awarded more than $14.5 million, including $1.5 million for a loss of consortium claim, but allocated 25 percent of the fault to the injured driver, Henry “Eddie” Sandford, whom the defense accused of speeding.
