These disciplinary matters are before the Court on the Report and Recommendation of the special master, Gregory A. Futch, in which he recommends the Court accept the Petition for Voluntary Discipline filed by Herbert Adams, Jr. State Bar No. 003335, after the filing of three Formal Complaints, and impose an 18-month suspension, with conditions for readmission. The State Bar agrees that an 18-month suspension with conditions is appropriate.

In S13Y1871, Adams admits that he did not act with reasonable diligence in representing a client in defense of criminal charges as he failed to prepare adequately for trial. Adams was appointed to represent the client in November 2010. In February 2011, Adams was notified that motion hearings were scheduled for June and the trial for July. He unsuccessfully attempted to obtain continuances and in July a jury was selected. The next day the trial court held an emergency hearing and found that Adams was not prepared for trial; it continued the trial to a later date. Adams admits that this conduct violated Rule 1.3 of the Georgia Rules of Professional Conduct, see Bar Rule 4-102 d.
