A federal judge Thursday rejected an attempt by DeKalb County, Ga., CEO Vernon Jones to bar public access to a transcript and videotape of his deposition in a suit that Jones’ lawyers argued could embarrass him as he campaigns for the U.S. Senate.

At the end of an hour-long hearing, U.S. District Judge Thomas W. Thrash Jr. ruled from the bench that recordings of Jones’ six-hour deposition in a civil rights suit he faces by three DeKalb police officers should be available to the public.
