Attorney General Matt Denn took the helm of the Department of Justice a year ago, ready to make his mark on both the office and the state of Delaware.
In the 12 months that have passed since he took the oath of office Jan. 6, 2015, Denn has aggressively pursued prosecutions of heroin dealers, taken on the issue of gun violence, navigated changing marijuana laws and announced a sweeping package of proposals aimed at reforming the state's criminal justice system.
But before any of that, it was what Denn did on his second day in office that first let Delawareans know they could expect a unique vision from the man who pledged “action and a sense of urgency” in his first speech as attorney general.
