Counselor and trial lawyer Edward J. McAndrew joined DLA Piper as a partner, according to a press release from the firm. He works in the firm's intellectual property and is based out of Wilmington and Washington, D.C.

McAndrew focuses his practice on cybersecurity matters, specifically computer and financial fraud, digital privacy, intellectual property protection, social media, online speech, cyber-based national security issues and governmental demands for data.

Prior to working for DLA Piper, McAndrews was co-chair of Ballard Spahr's privacy and data security group and leader of its national cyber incident response team. He also served as a federal cybercrime prosecutor and national security cyber specialist with the U.S. Department of Justice.
