Karen B. Owens, a member of Ashby & Geddes, is leaving the firm after being appointed by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit as a U.S. bankruptcy judge.

According to an announcement from the firm, she will be serving as a U.S. bankruptcy judge for the District of Delaware and is set to serve a 14-year term.

While working as an attorney, Owens focused her practice in bankruptcy and restructuring. She represented debtors and creditors and other clients in Chapter 11 cases. She also handled matters related to commercial civil litigation.

Owens is a member of the Delaware chapter of the Federal Bar Association's civics committee and is a founder and editor of the blog Delaware Bankruptcy Insider.
