A Delaware federal judge on Tuesday blocked a bid by medical implants maker Greatbatch Ltd. to pursue enhanced damages for willful infringement of patents at the heart of a $37.5 million jury verdict in its favor earlier this year.

In light of a recent U.S. Supreme Court decision, Greatbatch had asked Delaware District Chief Judge Leonard P. Stark to vacate a December 2015 order granting defendant AVX Corp.’s motion for summary judgment of no willful infringement on three Greatbatch patents for parts used in implantable medical devices and cellphones.
