A federal judge has dismissed a patent infringement lawsuit against file-hosting service Dropbox over data backup systems.

U.S. District Judge Colm F. Connolly of the District of Delaware granted Dropbox's motion to dismiss Whitserve's patent infringement claim against it.

The dispute was over U.S. Patent No. 8,812,437 (“the '437 patent”) titled “Onsite Backup for Third Party Internet-Based Systems.” The patent details safety measures and systems for companies outsourcing data storage to third parties.
