Cozen O'Connor filed a lawsuit on behalf of Ameritas Life Insurance Thursday in Delaware District Court over a $4 million life insurance policy allegedly filed by a 'sham trust.' The complaint targets Wilmington Trust, a subsidiary of M&T Bank Corp., for allegedly facilitating a stranger-originated life insurance (STOLI) scheme misrepresented as a policy filed on behalf of an elderly lady's insurance trust. Counsel have not yet appeared for the defendant. The case is 1:22-cv-00910, Ameritas Life Insurance Corp. v. Wilmington Trust N.A.
