A Hockessin attorney who has filed multiple actions accusing members of the Delaware judiciary of misconduct was disbarred Thursday afternoon for his actions during and after a Court of Chancery dispute over trimming shrubbery.

An 85-page decision from the Supreme Court's disciplinary office said the disbarment—the first in the state since March 2022—stemmed from Richard Abbott making misrepresentations and advising his client to go around a court order in a case between a Rehoboth Beach HOA and property owner, then going on the offensive against the judge who referred him to the Office of Disciplinary Counsel.
