Members of the Delaware corporate bar have spoken out in defense of Chancellor Kathaleen St. J. McCormick, whom Elon Musk accused of corruption and political bias following her refusal to reinstate his Tesla compensation plan.

Tuesday night, a letter signed by more than 100 law professors, attorneys and others familiar with the Court of Chancery was sent to the Delaware State Bar Association's Committee on Response to Public Comment, asking the committee to speak out in defense of McCormick, who is unable to do so on her own behalf under the state's judicial conduct rules. The DSBA issued a statement, also on Dec. 10, in support of the Delaware judiciary.

Those who signed the letter include more than 30 law professors as well as attorneys with at least 20 firms that primarily represent plaintiffs, including Grant & Eisenhofer, Block & Leviton, Robbins Geller Rudman & Dowd, Kessler Topaz Meltzer & Check, Labaton Sucharow and Saxena White. Three elected state officials—Auditor Lydia York and representatives Madinah Wilson-Anton and Sean Lynn—also signed.
