The Delaware Senate has voted to make current Magistrate in Chancery Bonnie W. David Delaware's next vice chancellor, confirming outgoing Gov. John Carney's nomination.

The 19 senators who voted Dec. 16 unanimously approved David's confirmation, as did the Senate's seven-member executive committee, which voted prior to the floor vote. The confirmation installs David as the successor to current Vice Chancellor Sam Glasscock III, who is set to retire in early January. The Senate vote clears David to begin a 12-year term as vice chancellor as soon as Jan. 7.
