A Delaware Court of Chancery judge ruled that Travelers Casualty and Surety Co. is not released from providing insurance to cover the costs of environmental claims under contracts with an insured.

Vice Chancellor Sam Glasscock III, in a memorandum opinion inTravelers Casualty and Surety v. Sequa and Atlantic Research on May 29, said that when Travelers, Sequa Corp. and one of Sequa’s subsidiaries settled litigation over insurance provided by Travelers in the Delaware Superior Court in 1997, that settlement and release did not cover sites in New Jersey.
