Legislation signed May 25 by President Obama will ensure that Delaware will not lose any of its five temporary bankruptcy judgeships within the next five years if any of its current judges leave the bench. The president reauthorized their terms when he signed the Temporary Bankruptcy Judgeships Extension Act.

The bill was introduced in the Senate by U.S. Senator Chris Coons, D-Del., and co-sponsored by U.S. Senator Tom Carper, D-Del. It extended reauthorizations for bankruptcy judgeships in 14 states, including Delaware, and Puerto Rico.
