The Delaware Court of Chancery has blocked efforts by Al-Jazeera America LLC and AT&T Services Inc. to keep confidential a large portion of their contract litigation. Vice Chancellor Sam Glasscock III denied the parties’ confidentiality arguments by invoking Rule 5(g), a measure adopted by the court earlier this year to make it tougher for parties to redact information in court filings.

It is believed that this was only the second time the Chancery Court has applied Rule 5(g) to unseal a court document. The rule, which was adopted in January, was also applied by Glasscock in Sequoia Presidential Yacht Group v. FE Partners to unseal ethical violations alleged against a New York plaintiffs attorney in that case.
