In the first month of 2016, attorneys for E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Co. secured the dismissal of three cases in state and federal courts that reduced the chemical giant’s exposure to liability ahead of a merger with Dow Chemical Co.

The Delaware Supreme Court en banc late last month upheld the Court of Chancery’s decision to toss a derivative claim seeking a recovery of $1 billion.
