The Delaware Supreme Court has ended a derivative suit against directors of JPMorgan Chase & Co., after attorneys for the plaintiff tried to beat back assertions that they had improperly severed claims central to the case in the Court of Chancery.

Chief Justice Leo E. Strine Jr. issued a two-paragraph order upholding the Chancery Court’s dismissal of the case Feb. 25, just one day after hearing oral arguments. Strine and an en banc panel of justices had peppered the lawyers with questions and criticisms for the decision to drop the bulk of their claims.
