Dr. Goodworth is a Biomechanics expert. His work focuses on injury causation in vehicle crashes, slip, trip, and falls, and other sports and recreation activities. Dr. Goodworth analyzes injuries and medical reports, and performs vehicle and site inspections in California and across the US.
He is a Full Tenured Professor at Westmont College and works in Engineering and Kinesiology. Dr. Goodworth has over 50 peer-reviewed journal and conference publications. During his 20 years of research, he has been awarded over a million dollars in research funding by the National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health, and Department of Defense. He is also a Professional Engineer in California (# M40242), an ACTAR Accredited Traffic Accident Reconstructionist (# 2225), and trained in EDR interpretation (“black box”).
He is the Director of the Biomechanics & Balance Lab at Westmont College where he tests seat belts, airbags, occupant kinematics, pregnancy/ fetal outcomes, and balance and mobility in older adults and those with neurological disorders. Dr. Goodworth takes pride in explaining technical topics in a clear and simple manner with visuals and illustrations. He teaches undergraduate students where effective communication of technical topics is required in Biomechanics, Causes of Injury, Research, and Human Motor Control. He is a member of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, Society of Automotive Engineering, and International Society for Posture and Gait Research.
