Brad Smith, Canine Tactical Operations and Consulting

Brad retired from the West Covina Police Department in California after 30 years. He has been a K9 trainer for 35 years, handler for 20 years, SWAT for six years and a K9 SWAT for 18 years.

Brad graduated from the POST Master Instructor Program where he designed the only approved K9 SWAT School (SKIDDS) and CAnine Tactical School (CATS) in California. Since 1998 Brad has lectured, taught, and trained thousands of law enforcement officers throughout the United States, Canada, Brazil, Costa Rica, Australia and China.

Brad started Canine Tactical Operations and Consulting in 1997. Brad is one of this country's leading K9 experts when it comes to Patrol and K9 SWAT deployments.

Brad provides K9 unit evaluations and consults and provides expert opinions in state and federal court on K9 use of force, tactics, training, documentation, FLSA, report writing and K9 policy.

Brad will examine your documents and give you a comprehensive case evaluation from the standpoint of best police practices and current industry standards. Brad will go beyond the reports by bring vital and critical details to light that most people would not recognize.

Brad has authored two books, “K9 Tactical Operations for Patrol and SWAT” “K9’s in the Courtroom” and published 135 articles.
