Kathleen's nursing background included Longterm Care, Acute Care, Emergency Room, Labor & Delivery and as a Director of Nursing. She entered Case Management initially for Longterm Care and Acute Ventilator Units and moved to the Worker's Compensation discipline serving as a Catastrophic Field Nurse Case Manager, then promoted to become a Regional Director of Nurse & Vocational Case Management for one of the largest Worker's Compensation Carriers in the world. She originated their Vocational Program to bring a smooth transition for injured workers unable to return to their previous jobs, from Nursing to Vocational Case Management once physically ready.
She became the Executive Director of the Case Management Society of America (CMSA) 12/30/2016 thru 8/31/2020, unanimously voted into the position by the National Board of Directors along with approval of CMSA’s head of accounting and CMSA’s attorney. Prior to this appointment, she served in the elected position as President of CMSA National as well as 6 years prior in 3 other positions on the National board. In 2018 she was named as CMSA's National Case Manager of the Year, an accolade given to an individual that has influenced the profession of case management globally.
Kathleen was also selected by SEAK, Inc. and the National Workers' Compensation and Occupational Medicine Conference as one of the "50 most influential people in Workers’ Compensation and Occupational Medicine". She was the only Registered Nurse on the list. Kathleen is an international author, speaker and educator on healthcare topics including Transitions of Care, Integrated Case Management, Ethics for Case Managers, HIPAA, Worker's Compensation, the Opioid Crisis, Medication Adherence, Care Coordination, Work Comp Core Curriculum for Case Management, Case Management Standards of Practice and The Case Management Model Act.

Education & Licenses
Registered Nurse, Bachelor Degree’s in Science and Healthcare Administration, Master of Science Degree in Nursing, and lastly a Master’s Degree of Jurisprudence Healthcare Law, Management & Policy from Texas A & M University School of Law. She has multiple certifications starting with RN-BC (Board Certified in Case Management with the American Nurses Credentialing Center), a CCM (Certified with the Case Management Commission) and is a CRRN (Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse by the American Rehabilitation Association Commission). She holds an RN Tx. License which is Compact with 40+states legal to practice. Kathleen also has an LVN (Licensed Vocational Nurse) Tx. license however is inactive since she became an RN.
