Dr. Robert Espinoza has been a primary care physician Board Certified in Family Medicine since 2008. He has worked in community outpatient centers as well as serving as a medical director in an urgent care facility.

Since 2017, Dr. Espinoza has served as an attending physician for California Correctional Healthcare Services who provides medical care to inmates housed within the California Department of Corrections. Along with taking care of typical primary care issues, he also manages patients needing care for complicated diabetes, congestive heart failure, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, hepatitis C with liver cirrhosis, different cancers, end of life care, substance abuse disorders, acute prison related trauma and a myriad of other health related issues. As a Medication Assistance Treatment (MAT) provider, Dr. Espinoza obtained his X waiver through the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certified to manage opioid dependent patients within a multidisciplinary program including prescribing Suboxone.

As part of his duties within their facility, he also serves as a Clinical Associate Professor in Family Medicine, overseeing, teaching, guiding medical students and resident physicians.

Dr. Espinoza has served as an expert witness since 2021, providing objective, evidence base opinions on breach of duty and causation in family medicine, primary care, urgent care and correctional medicine (prison medicine/jail medicine) cases. He is willing to opine on both plaintiff and defendant medical malpractice cases, give deposition statements when asked and testify in court if needed.
