Marc Firestone, GC of Kraft Foods, Inc. was appointed to the newly-created position of EVP, Corporate and Legal Affairs and General Counsel. In his new position, Firestone is responsible for the company's communications, government affairs and community involvement programs, as well as legal and compliance activities.
His appointment is part of a management restructuring announced Sept. 12 by Irene Rosenfeld, who became CEO in June.
“Our new team will build a Kraft that is bolder, more agile, more creative and more focused,” Rosenfeld said in a statement.
Kraft's parent company, Altria, is expected to spin off the food giant, but Rosenfeld did not address that issue in her statement.
Firestone joined Kraft in 2003 after spending 15 years in legal and regulatory positions at Altria and its predecessor company, Philip Morris Cos. Inc., including Chief Counsel for Philip Morris Europe and General Counsel for Philip Morris International.
