A global company headquartered in Houston seeks an attorney with 15-plus years of experience to manage its intellectual property division. This is a high-level position in the department and has supervisory responsibility for the IP group.
Responsibilities include:
- Advising company business units on transactions relating to the creation, protection, ownership, utilization and/or transfer of technology, trade secrets, patents and other intellectual property rights, along with documenting and negotiating such IP transactions
- Ensuring consistent policy implementation relating to IP transfers to and from the company
- Dispute resolution relating to the company's intellectual property
- Managing up to 10 attorneys and support staff
Requirements include:
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in all areas of intellectual property law with a significant number of years focused on transactions
- Strong expertise in IP transactions supporting mergers and acquisitions
- Solid experience with major patent litigation
- Experience with a global intellectual property practice and a working knowledge of international IP conventions
- Registration in good standing for patent practice in the USPTO and/or the European Patent Office
