Bill Would Better Equip British Authorities Cracking Down on Piracy
Proposed legislation follows France's lead in ending copyright infringement on the Internet.

An anti-piracy bill, brought by British Parliament Business Secretary Peter Mandelson would better arm British authorities in its crack down against Internet users who steal copyright material from the Web. The House of Commons will hear the bill March 15.
The bill would allow Internet service providers to deny repeat copyright infringers access to sites that provide pirated material, including movies and music. Supporters believe the new law would finally allow copyright holders to tackle an ongoing problem, while opponents say it threatens freedom of speech and the open Internet.
