Artist Dereck Seltzer, who created a piece of art known as the Scream Icon, is suing rock band Green Day for copyright infringement, violation of the Lanham Trademark Act, unfair competition and injury to business reputation.
Seltzer claims the band used the image last year as a backstage backdrop at their concerts and in promotional material without permission from Seltzer.

The suit, accusing the defendant of selling knock-off Graco products, was filed Dec. 18 in New Jersey District Court by Rivkin Radler on behalf of Graco Inc. and Graco Minnesota.
